You may have heard of battery swelling issues, which can happen with modern lithium ion batteries. If the game supports your hardware, you can run it just fine. The only real gaming issue you'll have on a Mac is availability of new games. all work fine, and the machine has not been damaged. Bioshock and Bioshock 2, Half-life 2 series, Left 4 Dead 2, etc. I've got a mid-2010 MBP that I play a lot of games on. To say that gaming will damage your machine is ridiculous.

You could buy a MacPro, but then your video card upgrade options are nearly non-existant.ģD gaming on Mac's, what you need to knowįirst, I have a real problem with the advice you've been given here. However with a Windows 3D gaming tower you can open it up and clean the dust, it's designed to do that also there is local support and parts. Trouble is your warranty or AppleCare may be violated on some Mac's if you do this and if you break anything it's certainly not covered. With the MacBook Pro one has to routinely clean the fans and cooling fins of dust, in your case I would say at least once a month until you feel you can do it less often. So what you need is a 3D gaming tower and Windows PC's are the champ here as there are plenty of video card upgrades, case mods, devices, tweaks and surround sound etc.

What happens is the software upgrades and newer hardware demands of the newer released games that require more powerful hardware and you can't upgrade the video card in laptops or most Mac's at all. Exactly, the MacBook Pro is not a 3D gaming machine although the extra dedicated graphics can make some recent issue 3D games and older 3D games run fine.
